What happens when the dream of living off-grid becomes something you never expected?
BY ANNE LAFFERTY
We went to Core Hollow looking for a different kind of life.
Far from town and the conveniences most people take for granted, we built a home, raised cattle, cared for animals, battled weather and isolation, and learned to depend on ourselves and one another.
There were wonderful times. There were ridiculous times. There were animals we loved, neighbors we’ll never forget, and experiences that still make me laugh.
But there was another side to Core Hollow.
Family struggles, old wounds, unforgiveness and circumstances we could not always control slowly changed the dream we had worked so hard to build.
Core Hollow is the true story of those years.
It isn’t a guide to living off-grid. It’s a memoir about a family who tried it, lived it, loved parts of it, survived other parts of it, and discovered that sometimes the greatest challenge isn’t surviving the wilderness.
It’s surviving what happens between the people you love.
A true story of family, resilience and an unusual life off-grid.
If you enjoy true stories about ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances, rural and off-grid life, family relationships, animals, hardship, humor, heartbreak and the strength it sometimes takes to keep going, I hope you’ll join me at Core Hollow.
Available in paperback and Kindle on Amazon.
From Readers
“This deeply emotional story explores family, survival, forgiveness, and the complicated bonds that shape our lives.”
“The author made you feel like you were there, but not just with lengthy explanations, with emotional descriptions instead. I really enjoyed reading this and it will remain on my bookshelf and will get another re read in a couple months.”
“Core Hollow is a beautifully atmospheric and hauntingly lyrical book. Anne Laferty creates a dreamlike world filled with wildness, mystery, and longing, drawing readers into a place that feels both untamed and deeply familiar. The evocative writing lingers long after the final pageālike a half-remembered dream beneath the moonlight.“
